Sanderson Bloomsbury Collection

The long awaited New Bloomsbury Canvas Collection from Sanderson is now available to view at Mill House Designs.

Why not treat yourself and update tired rooms, cushions and even sofas with these fantastic new collections.

How the Sanderson Bloomsbury Collection was created

There are 11 canvas fabrics within the collection, all of which reflect the eclectic nature of influences ranging from Post Impressionist paintings and textiles, to the interior decoration in houses such as Charleston Farmhouse, the beautifully preserved home of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant.

The Bloomsbury Group itself included a number of painters and designers during 1905 and 1940 when English modernism took place.  The Charleston farmhouse in Sussex, home to Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant (both members of The Bloomsbury Group) used the farmhouse as a blank canvas to practice their interior design.  By doing so they created a treasury of Bloomsbury art that is wonderfully captured and brought to life in the Sanderson Bloomsbury Collection.

Mrs Dalloway and how she inspired the Sanderson Dalloway Collection

Virginia Woolf, also a key member of The Bloomsbury Group, a well-known British author who created Mrs Dalloway in 1925.  Mrs Dalloway is based around a single day in June 1923 and conjures up images of a glamorous evening party, in beautiful surroundings meeting important people, including the Prime Minister.

The Sanderson Dalloway collection contains silk stripes, prints embroideries and jacquards presented in six soft colour palettes.  The Dalloway collection complements The Bloomsbury Collection in much the same way I gather an olive complements a 1930s Martini.

The Geometric Orlando Velvet and Waves Collection

You cannot mention the 1930s without mentioning the very popular Art Deco style.  Art Deco is characterised through geometric, often symmetrical, patterns.  Although the new Orlando collection by Sanderson has a modern feel to it, the collection was inspired by the geometric designs popular in the 1920s and 1930s.  Following the revival of Art Deco in the 1960s, this collection comprises of three small scale semi-geometric designs.
