Sewing Workshops
At Mill House Designs we are passionate about sewing and feel it is one of those skills that can and should be passed down from generation to generation.
Basic sewing skills aren’t taught in school any more
Since the government stopped teaching sewing skills to school children the numbers of people who cannot even sew on a button is growing by the year. But in this fashion conscious climate we live in, many families want to have new interior soft furnishings styles but do not have the know how to create them at home.
This is where we are trying to redress the balance slightly, and teach the basic skills required to be able to make your own soft furnishings. So we offer sewing workshops in our workroom at Mill House Designs, Evegate, Smeeth.
Come along and learn a new skill and you will soon be enjoying the art of sewing.
We have all the haberdashery
You can come along in a calm and friendly environment and learn a new skill. We have all the haberdashery you will need, and plenty of remnant fabrics for you to choose from.
If you have your own sewing machine, great, bring it with you and we will help you get to grips with it, and you can practice on scraps of lining and fabrics to gain confidence, before tackling your project.
Specialising in cushion covers, curtains and roman blinds
We specialise in teaching you how to make cushion covers, curtains and roman blinds.
Feedback about our courses is great, and our students keep coming back for more. I think that speaks for itself.
If you are interested in attending one of our workshops please see the next dates available on the right column of this site.
We look forward to seeing you and teaching you to sew.
You will find us just off the A20, between Ashford and Hythe.
